The luxury hand of Accor Group, the upscale five-star Pullman, is back on the headlines with the recently opened Pullman Lijiang Resort & Spa in China’s southwestern Yunnan Province. The new property is located in Lijiang, a city often called China’s Forgotten Kingdom. This is the fourth Pullman resort in the country, with two in Sanya and another in Zhangjiajie, and the property boasts a tranquil resort setting with magical views of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The property is located just a few minutes away from downtown Lijiang, as well as adjacent to Shuhe Ancient Town. Another nearby attraction is the Dayan Ancient Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is well worth the visit.

“Yunnan is one of China’s most attractive destinations for tourists due to its breathtaking natural scenery, mild climate and rich ethnic cultures. We are very excited to bring the Pullman brand to Yunnan,” shared the Senior VP of Accor Greater China, Robert Murray.

The upscale hotel consisted of 79 villas and 51 deluxe rooms. The architecture is inspired by the local Naxi ethnic minority traditions, with elements of contemporary Chinese expertly mixed into the interior design. The resort is a full-service hotel, set in the middle of lush gardens with canals and a lake which functions as a destination in and of itself.

The resort is home to five restaurants and bars, all created to pamper even the most discerning of palates. There is the Xi Western Restaurant, which serves an international buffet spread as well as ala carte selection of international cuisines. There is also Zun Chinese Restaurant, which serve Chow Chou cuisine with inspirations from the local ethnic traditions and cultures.

Other than that, there is also the ultra-cool MIST Lobby Lounge and Bar, boasting a casual, plush and relaxing atmosphere, while those looking enjoy the stunning views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain can do so from the comfort of 1919 Bar. Finally, another highlight is the Mandara Spa, which serves up unique and exotic spa treatments. All in all the Pullman Resort at Lijiang promises to be your perfect destination away from home.

In the tradition of the company’s 30 years of creative collaborations, ABSOLUT VODKA is touring 20 pieces of renowned artwork from the ABSOLUT Art Collection in seven cities across the Asia Pacific region.

The collection, which since 2008 is owned and curated by the Historical Museum of Wines and Spirits in Stockholm, Sweden, will return to its permanent home in Europe after the Asia Pacific tour wraps up on the 31st July. The ABSOLUT Art Collection, a celebration of art, creativity and popular culture includes works by Andy Warhol, Francesco Clemente, Rosemarie Trockel, Béatrice Cussol and Angus Fairhurst, to name a few.

“The ABSOLUT Art Collection comprises over 800 pieces of work, and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to send some of the most renowned pieces on tour around the region for the first time. On display at the ABSOLUT Art Collection Exhibition will be a range of artists known for their work in the pop art, trans-avant-garde and modern spheres. The selection spans across a variety of mediums such as canvas, plexiglas and tin, to photography and paper. It is an inspiring collection,” says Anna Malmhake, Vice President Global Marketing at The Absolut Company.

The ABSOLUT Art Collection Tour has already stopped in Asia Pacific cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Dubai and Sydney. Highlights of the ABSOLUT Art Collection Exhibitions in Delhi, Mumbai, Dubai and Sydney include:

New Delhi – ABSOLUT partnered with the India Art Summit, India’s largest annual art exhibit, to feature the ABSOLUT art pieces on 20th-23rd January. ABSOLUT also collaborated with contemporary artist Subodh Gupta who is known for elevating readymade projects into art objects. In his installation created exclusively for ABSOLUT, everyday objects experience transformation in scale and appearance, dissolving their former meaning and function into something outstanding and truly ABSOLUT.

Mumbai – ABSOLUT teamed up with the Project 88 gallery to feature the ABSOLUT Art Collection Exhibition along with the ABSOLUT SUBODH GUPTA installation on 9th-14th February.

Dubai – ABSOLUT challenged the Dubai creative community with the ABSOLUT Articulation competition, which was launched at the Exhibition unveiling on 3rd March at the Carbon 12 gallery. The competition calls for creatives in Dubai to create an original work of art – in any medium – that is about or inspired by ABSOLUT and features the ABSOLUT bottle in some way. On 4th May the competition finalists will be exhibited at Carbon 12 and the winner will be announced. For contest details, visit: absolutarticulation.com.

Sydney – ABSOLUT collaborated with the Ray Hughes Gallery to feature the ABSOLUT Art Collection Exhibition on the 18th-27th March. To celebrate local creativity, a series of Sydney-based artists were commissioned to paint an original work of art inspired by the soon to be released ABSOLUT BERRI ACAI.

M Hotel Singapore Unveils New General Manager – Mr Benedict Ng

Mr Ng’s last appointment was at Copthorne King’s Hotel Singapore as the property’s General Manager since 2005. A veteran professional with over twenty-five years in the hospitality industry, Mr Ng embarked on his career in the hospitality industry as a Management Trainee at the former Dynasty Hotel Singapore in 1984 where he was introduced to all the facets of hotel operations. An avid believer in providing service with a difference to everyone who stepped into the hotel, Mr Ng started out at the Front Office where part of his duties was to ensure that all guests would leave the hotel with a memorable experience.

His passion and strength in driving new and return business as well as managing revenues and enhancing yield saw him rise through the ranks from Front Office to Room Sales. Mr Ng eventually undertook the appointment of Director of Sales and Marketing at Copthorne King’s Hotel Singapore in 1994.

With his continual dedication in developing key strategies to increase market share and managing the operations to deliver the brand promise, Mr Ng was subsequently appointed as General Manager, overseeing the entire hotel operations in his care.

‘I am thrilled to be part of M Hotel, where the property has the privilege of being the only “M” brand in the M&C Hotels portfolio. This has certainly given the hotel a unique branding and target audience.’ says Mr Ng.

‘However, with the ever-evolving hospitality landscape and the revitalisation efforts by the Singapore Government, especially with the opening of the Marina Bay Financial Centre and the two Integrated Resorts, residential, retail and entertainment sectors look poised to bring incremental business opportunities to M Hotel. And so together with the team, I look forward to steering M Hotel to the next level, with a deeper focus on bringing through more personalised service standards and product enhancements,’ adds Mr Ng.

Click here for Turkey all inclusive holidays and start packing. Flights to Turkey take only about four hours, but it feels like a different world.

Tourism Victoria has launched the latest phase of its “Jigsaw” campaign, with creative designed to lure Australian travelers to Melbourne. The tourism body launched its year-long campaign “Play Melbourne” yesterday nationally with television, cinema, radio, print, out-of-home and digital activities. The campaign aims to invite visitors to the southern capital by selling its creative sub-culture.

As part of the campaign, a promotion is being run by Tourism Victoria that will see it give away a weekend away in Melbourne every week for the next year. The competition is in conjunction with Austereo and Virgin Australia. The campaign is the latest phase in Tourism Victoria’s “Jigsaw” campaign, devised by agency Publicis Mojo.

The website for Play Melbourne gives visitors a chance to win a weekend trip to Melbourne for two, with quirky questions and quizzes hiding along various corners of the main Play Melbourne website.

Currently, the tourism body is pitching out its creative account with a contract period of four years. It is at the second stage of the process with seven shortlisted agencies presenting earlier this month. Publicis Mojo will be defending the account after an 18-year tenure.

Tourism Victoria spent $4.4 million on main media in the 12 months to March 2011, down from $6.5 million in the prior period, according to Nielsen. The campaign will launch in New Zealand next year with Mitchell & Partners handling media buying for Tourism Victoria.

In 1496 Christopher Columbus declared it the most beautiful island he had ever seen! The charm of Cheap Dominican Republic holidays attracts millions of visitors every year.
