If you go up to Castle Rock, have a look for the red blob in the middle of the industrial park! Take a wee drive after your sight seeing to Castle Rock Cafe, 21 Mary Muller Drive, Heathcote.
Amazing food and coffee!

Thanks Cate. I have an inkling its probably because of the popularity of Lord of the Rings as well. When I was there I can’t help but feel the grandeur of the scenery, it reminded me of LotR often!

An interesting thought, those 4 points that you mentioned, I don’t recall visiting any of those! Just goes to show how many points of attractions there are in New Zealand.

I have a ton of other photos, but I’ll probably won’t feature them next week. I’ll have to find some variety, less you all get bored of same old New Zealand!

For some reason ,unknown to me, NZ seems to be one of those places that people just love to see photos of time and time again. It’s nice to see a different shot of NZ with the Port Hills. Other photo suggestions for you that people don’t often see of NZ: Kapiti Coast, Port Chalmers, Akaroa and Arthurs Pass.

There were tons of hiking trails during our journey through the South Islands. These ranges from your leisurely 15-30 minutes walk to some extreme ones that goes for 3-6 days long! Definitely a great way to enjoy the scenic beauty.

And yes, everything there reminded me often of Lord of the Rings. Very grandiose and beautiful! Lots of deep canyons and low-lying valleys that were just beautiful. Driving in NZ was definitely a lot of fun!

Like Angela, NZ is on my list of places I really want to visit. This looks like a great spot, and hiking out a bit to take photos would be totally something we’d want to do while there!
