Milford Sound in Photos
Back to New Zealand again this week to highlight one of my favorite part of the journey there, the famed Milford Sound.
The 3-4 hour bus ride from Queenstown was quite eventful, with numerous photo stops along the way. We passed by the Mirror Lakes, Te Anau and went through Homer’s Tunnel before finally reaching the Milford harbor. It was definitely a great sight to be sure, but I do wish we had more time to spend there through the night, kayaking, snorkeling and the likes. There were also seals (and sometimes dolphins, but we didn’t get to see any) lazily tanning away on a piece of rock by the side. Wished we could have swam with them, but then again I got to that in Kaikoura. Another time another story!
The Milford Sound is a fiord that is located on New Zealand’s South Island in the southeastern point. Among beautiful views, hikes, scenery, and natuer – it is best known for incomparably large Mitre Peak as well as rainforests and waterfalls like Stirling and Bowen falls, which drape over the sheer sides. The fiord is home the Milford Track – which is one of the rewarding hikes in New Zealand.
